Well done to everyone who braved the elements and tackled the ICEBREAKER course yesterday. As ever we were staggered by the energy and enthusiasm you put into it. It was a tough course with a very muddy bike section. For those of that became Mud Masters (& Mud Mistresses) well done, you certainly earnt your hoodie yesterday. Provisional results are attached below any amendments or omissions please let elsie know on elsie@mudrunner.co.uk Split times will follow later. We have two options with elsie now: we either permenantly lock him/her in the cupboard or find someone who can operate a PA without swearing or vile feedback. If any of you felt you have those skills let us know and we can leave elsie in the cupboard. Photographs: Please bear with us it was a long day and we are trialling a new system to make it easier to find your photo. We hope to have the photos online by tuesday morning. We will email you , place links on the site and facebook. Honourable Mentions: Don't know your names yet but we will track you down; it is great how all the participants/spectators are so supportive of each other and help out well beyond what would be reasonably expected. Things we saw but I am sure there were other instances included: - A spectator lending their own mountain bike to a competitor who had broken theirs. - One girl so determined to become a mud master she waited one hour to borrow someone elses bike before going back out on the tracks - Lending gloves to another competitor.. There is a free place at Oblivion for each of the three above. If you are aware of any other worthy runners / spectators do let us know.
ICEBREAKER is now full. Conditions on the course on sunday were still very icy, however, the thaw had started so we expect it to be fairly sticky by next weekend. Elsie spotted a fair few runners and bikers up on the hills near the course, nice to see people getting last minute sessions in. We have been getting a lot of grief for not providing the Tub of Love at ICEBREAKER, so to make amends we have 2 hot tubs in transition area. However, they can only be used on the proviso that you clean off the worst of the filth in the icy cold paddling pools first. Usual Tubbing rules apply: The first rule of Tub of Love is: you do not talk about tub of love. The second rule of Tub of Love is: you DO NOT talk about Tub of Love! Third rule of Tub of Love: someone yells "stop!", goes limp, taps out, the tub is over. Fourth rule:what goes in the tub stays in the tub. Fifth rule: one tub at a time. Sixth rule: No shirts, no shoes. Seventh rule: tubbing will go on as long it has to. And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at the tub of love. You have to tub (with apologies to tyler durden) Mud Masters the list will be updated later today. If your name is not on the list don't panic, provided we can find your name on fhe results list for the 2 previous races then you will qualify Packs have been sent out for all the entries received so far. If your pack has not yet arrived you can pick up a new timing chip on the day from registration. Joining instructions can be downloaded here. A revised list of potential mud masters (based on current entries) can also be downloaded. Any queries contact Elsie, (elsie@mudrunner.co.uk) who is a little shabby today having been caught hoovering up the xmas party mulled wine (wretched deviant).
